Istanbul Modern Art Museum is also known as Istanbul Modern. It is known to be the house of contemporary art in Turkey and definitely one of the notable art museums in Turkey. This art museum was opened in 2004. You can easily access the museum by city's tram system. The exhibitions are held on the two floors and you will also be finding few shops and restaurants on the top floor. The film exhibition are held in the ground floor just by the side of the library. - Pera Museum: It was set up in 2005 by the Suna and Inan Kirac Foundation and it nestles in Istanbul, Turkey. Here, you can check out the permanent collection of 300 paintings of the Orientalist art by Suna and Inan Kirac Foundation. Go through the works of the European artists which reflect the ideas of the Ottoman world from 17th century to 19th century. The works of Osman Hamdi Bey deserve special mention. The exhibitions are held on five floors and th permanent collections are exhibited on the first two floors and you will be finding the temporary ones on the top three floors. You must also check out the artshop at the ground shop and auditorium.
- Sadberk Hanim Museum: This is a private museum which nestles at the Bosporus, Istanbul, Turkey. It was set up by the Vehbi Koc Foundation in the memory of Sadberk, the deceased wife of Vehbi Koc. The collections of the museum are fascinating and you can check out some of the fine exhibits of Anatolian civilization, Neolithic period, Bronze Age, Roman civilization, Byzantine art, Islamic art, Ottoman Period, gold coins of the Ottoman Empire and Turkish Republic, Chinese celadons and porcelains and so on. This is why, a huge number of historian sand archaeologists visit this private museum every year.
- Sakip Sabanci Museum: This is also a private museum but one of the well known art museums of Turkey which is known to have a wonderful collection of fine arts. The museum basically focuses on the religious documents, state documents, paintings of Ottoman period and calligraphic art. The museum was opened in 2002 and within a very short span of time, the museum has earned national recognition for hosting some of the wonderful foreign exhibitions and cultural events especially on weekends.
